"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beulah Martin Odom on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, at the age of 89. Beulah was born on March 29, 1935, in Boston, Mass., to Gloria (Brown) and Tyrone Odom.
Beulah dedicated 40 years to shaping young minds as a public school teacher. Her excellence and perseverance were recognized when she received the Educator of the Year award for her school district four consecutive years from 2004 to 2008. Known for her loud and bright spirit, Beulah was the matriarch of her family and a pillar of her community. Lovingly called "Nana Beulah," she opened her heart and home to anyone in need of guidance or love. While her bluntness and advocacy for progress sometimes sparked debate, especially in her church community, her unwavering dedication to truth and growth left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Gloria and Tyrone Odom, and her three older brothers: James Odom, Clarence Odom, and Herbert Odom. She is survived by her beloved sister, Vicky Brown, and younger brother, Paul Odom; her five children—three daughters and two sons—and 17 cherished grandchildren.
You can to the family or in memory of Beullah Odom.
