MCCONNELL, Beverley AnnBeverley Ann McConnell passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017 surrounded by family at Mount St. Joseph's Hospital in Vancouver. Loving sister to Doreen of Minden, Ont. Proud and doting "Aunty B" to many nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews. Wonderful and dear friend to many in Vancouver and Ontario. Bev was born on May 26, 1932 along with her twin sister Sheila in Toronto. Sadly Sheila passed away in 1933 from Celiac Disease. Bev grew up in Sioux Lookout and loved the outdoors. She was a smart and curious child who wanted to help others. Bev returned to Toronto to study at the School of Occupational and Physical Therapy at U of T obtaining a Diploma in 1954. Her first job as an OT was at St. Thomas Hospital in Ontario. Bev moved out West in 1965 and began her teaching career at the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at UBC in Vancouver. She was elected President of the British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists in 1968 and helped author many articles in her field. In 1993, Bev was awarded a BCSOT Honorary Lifetime Membership for her outstanding contribution to the profession of Occupational Therapy. Whether it was visiting family and friends, kite flying in China or sailing to the Solomon Islands, Bev had a keen sense of fun and adventure. Carpe Diem was her motto. In recent years, you could find Bev strolling along Kit's Beach, playing Bridge at Brock House or meeting up with her many friends and family for a bite at the Sunset Grill. Aunty B, you will be missed!
