Beverley Betsy Lawrence was born on April 9, 1929, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Glen and Agnes (Frederickson) Lawrence. She moved with her family as a young girl to rural Sparta,Wis., where she attended country school. The Lawrence family moved several times before moving to Tomah,Wis., where Beverley attended Tomah High School, graduating in 1947. She then attended vocational/technical school in LaCrosse, where she studied bookkeeping and lived at Hixon House. She was employed for a short time as a waitress at a root beer stand/drive inn in Tomah. Beverley was married on April 9, 1948, in Tomah to Norman Thompson. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Tomah where they began a wholesale lumber supply business with Bev in charge of the accounting and at the same time Norm began a lifelong career working in construction. They lived in several places in Wisconsin and Minnesota before moving to High Forest, Minn., in 1960 where they raised their family and lived for many years. Beverley was a homemaker and also was a full partner and bookkeeper with Norm in Thompson Construction and Minnesota Truss and Manufacturing both in High Forest. Mr. Thomson died in 1989. Bev moved into Stewartville in 1993. She was married in 1996 to Art Noble and they lived in rural Stewartville. Mr. Noble died in 2007 and Bev returned to Stewartville where she has continued to make her home. Bev was a longtime member of High Forest Community Church and with her children in tow spent many a Saturday night cleaning the church for Sunday services. She was an active volunteer in the Stewartville area community as a member of the Lionesses and volunteered many hours with the Seniors Citizens group, now, the Center for Active Adults even stepping in as an interim director when needed. She helped with the flowers on Main Street and enjoyed the honor of being an "old Settler" in the High Forest Old Settlers Day Parade. Beverley loved to travel, especially road trips to other states and in 2013 fulfilled a lifelong dream, travelling to Alaska. She was an avid bowler, participating in league bowling, had huge gardens for years and would can most everything. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and made a quilt for all 34 great-grandchildren and had orders placed for 35, 36 and 37.
