Beverly GreenfieldBeverly Greenfield passed away on June 30 in Castle Rock, Colorado in her granddaughter's home. She was born on December 20, 1923 in Springfield, SD to Clare (Holleman) Walpole and Robert E. Walpole. At age 15 she moved to Vermillion where she graduated from high school in 1941 and entered University of South Dakota where she was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, Mortar Board and Kappa Alpha Theta. She graduated from the University magna cum lauda in 1944. Bev attended a summer session at Juilliard in New York City and then moved to Chicago where she worked at an advertising agency. She met her future husband Dr. Russell E. Greenfield in Chicago and they were wed on June 24, 1946. They made Sioux Falls their home.She was active in music circles and was a soloist and church choir member for many years. She was on the Symphony Board of Directors and Symphony Guild. Served as president of the 7th District Medical Society and YWCA board of directors. She was a member of Chapter AQ of PEO and Kappa Alpha Theta Alum Club.Bev was preceded in death by her brother Duane Walpole, her husband Dr. Russell Greenfield and her son Eric Greenfield.Grateful for having shared her life are her children Paige (Brian), Stacey, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.Services will be held at the First Congregational Church on August 9 at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow at the church.She has requested that memorials be given to the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, 301 S Main Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104 or the Sioux Falls First Congressional Church, 300 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
