Mr. Bill Van Davis of Jefferson died on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at his home. He was 95.
Mr. Davis was born on June 15, 1918, in Lansing to Hampton and Fannie Hart Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
He was a proud World War II veteran and a lifelong member of American Legion Post 275 in Lansing. Mr. Davis retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family and friends.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years, Jeanette Cox Davis; three sons, Ralph Davis and wife Cindy of Warrensville, Raymond Davis and wife Miriam of Apex, and Tracy Davis of Jefferson; one daughter, Tammy Parunak and husband Herb of West Jefferson.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; five step great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Larry Shepherd and Rev. J.B. Hamm. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec 20, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
