Bill (Paul W.) StarrettZANESVILLE: Bill (Paul W.) Starrett, 92, of Zanesville, died at 4:22 A.M., Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Select Speciality Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on Friday, December 3, 1920 in Zanesville, the son of the late Paul R. Starrett and Elizabeth Theora (Wagner) Starrett and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.Bill was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, class of 1938, and Muskingum College (Muskingum University), class of 1942. Following service in the army, Bill was an engineer at Goodyear Aircraft and attended the University of Akron. In 1953 he returned to Zanesville and began a career in electronics, including industrial electronics. Later, Bill combined his interests in photography, art, music and literature by developing a program of moving color patterns and modulations in coordination with music and poetry created on a translucent screen. In 1966 The Art Institute of Zanesville invited Bill to demonstrate this program. In 1977, Bill changed direction in his life by starting Starcrest Entertainment Corporation. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by two sisters, Sister Martha Starrett,O.P. of West Friendship, MD. and Barbara Starrett of Columbus, OH. A private burial has taken place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
