Armand Robert “Bob” Martini, 84, of Camden, Delaware, passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 15, 2020. He lived in Camden with Ann, his beloved spouse of 57 years, since 2009. Bob was born on February 4, 1935 to Armand Joseph and Marion Estelle (nee Lewis) Martini in Hoboken, New Jersey. He was predeceased by both his parents.
After graduating from Liberty (New York) High School in 1953, Bob went on to study labor relations at Cornell University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1957. He married Ann Susan Merrell in 1962, whom he’d met when she was working as a clerk in his mother’s dress shop. An entrepreneur at heart, Bob’s career interests spanned human resources, retail sales, organic farming, and general contracting.
In addition to his spouse, Bob's memory lives on in his four children: Lisa (Mark Holbrow), Amy (Ron Cohen), Eric (Leigh-Ann Terrel), and Jason; and three grandchildren: Rachel, Alexandra, and Rayann.
Bob will lovingly be remembered as an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was smart, witty, mischievous, compassionate, and loving. Above all, he was a good man.
Special thanks are due to the relatives, friends, and caregivers who eased the family’s burden throughout Bob’s illness. The in-home care provided by Demi Dyer and Chameca Cannon, and the ministrations of hospice nurse Barbara Willmore, were of particular comfort.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Seasons Hospice Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
