Bob WengerLancaster: Paul Robert "Bob" Wenger, 86 of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2017 at. He was born on September 1, 1930 in Bluffton, OH to the late Paul and Marguerite (Logan) Wenger. Bob was a 1948 graduate of Lancaster High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He attended
Ohio State University and Wittenburg College. Bob enlisted in the
United States Navy on January 2, 1951, and served as an Electricians Mate for 4 years abroad the heavy cruiser, USS Columbus, CA-74. Paul was an Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, Ohio. He was a member, Lt. Governor and Past President of the Lancaster Kiwanis Club; a member and Past President of Lancaster Community Concerts Association and Lancaster Jaycees, where he received the Distinguished Service Award. Bob was also a member of all Lancaster Masonic Bodies and the USS Columbus Alumni Association. He was employed by Anchor Hocking Corporation for 39 years as an electrical engineering design specialist, and supervised construction projects in Anchor Hocking's tableware and container division plants throughout the United States and Canada. He also worked with Habitat for Humanity doing construction and electrical work in houses that were being built. Bob loved to sing, boat and fish. He was a master woodworker and model boat and plane builder.Bob is survived by his children, Douglas Wenger of Sugar Grove, Cynthia Wenger of Loveland and Julie Wenger of Lancaster; grandchildren, Jason Wenger, Kristin (Matt) Thorpe, Daniel (Heather) Wenger, Chelsey (Garth) Bushee, Nathaniel Wenger and Kaylee (Micah) Strouse; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Lydia, Noah, Samuel, Emily and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Jewell Wenger and his parents.Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday July, 21 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Richard Ellsworth officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with the Lancaster Masonic Lodge conducting services at 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will follow the service at Forest Rose Cemetery with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military graveside services. The family would like to thank Dr. Scoggins for his years of care, VAMC Lancaster Homebased Primary Care Team, Lanfair and FairHoPe Hospice.
