Bobby Gene Holt, 80, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Dec. 14, 1933, in Springfield. He retired after 49 and half years as a parts technician from the former Wilson Brothers Chevrolet. He was a member of Chaplin Baptist Church where he served as an assistant Sunday School superintendant, deacon, and former training union director and had a passion for woodworking, hunting and fishing.He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margie Hahn Holt; a brother, Carroll Holt; and a sister, Glenna Jolly.Survivors include his wife, Catherine "Jewell" Lewis Holt; a son, Mike Holt, of Bardstown; two daughters, Sue Holt, of Bardstown, and Sandy (Mike) Wimpsett, both of Bardstown; six grandchildren, Crystal Holt, Michael Holt, Tyler Wimpsett, Millicent Wimpsett, Marissa Holt and Eden Wimpsett; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Holt; two great-granddaughters, Trinity and Gracie Holt, that Bobby and Jewell are raising, and Abigail Holt; four sisters, Frances Warner, of Louisville, Nancy Chesser and Doris Lewis, both of Chaplin, and Rita Rice, of Versailles; and three brothers, William Melton Holt, of Chaplin, Rudolph Holt, of Independence, Paul Wayne Holt, of Chaplin.The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Chaplin Baptist Church with burial in Highview Cemetery. Brother Jay Holt will officiate with Brother Heath Woolman assisting. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Chaplin Baptist Church and after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, until the time of the service at Chaplin Baptist Church. The family requests contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Bobby Holts' memory. Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
