Bobby "Bluegill" GilbertSHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Bobby Gene "Bluegill" Gilbert, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Couch Chapel, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhoads. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.Bobby was born on November 13, 1931 in Vivian, LA to Mildred Bridges and Dewey J. Gilbert and passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 16, 2016. Family was his whole life. He was a loving and devoted husband and soul mate for 65 years to his wife Frances, and his children and grandchildren were just as special. Bobby was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired as Supervisor for South Central Bell. Bobby was a Godly man who read his bible every night before bed without fail. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shreveport. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.Preceding Bobby in death are his parents, and his sister, Anna Stewart. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Frances Oxford Gilbert; daughters, Janet Coughlin, Marla Basham, and Bridget Ellis; grandchildren, Michael Liberto, Nicholas Liberto, Cody Basham, Holly Ellis, and Chad Hall; great-grandson, David Basham; also several nieces and nephews.Honoring Bobby as pallbearers will be Jack Parker, Mark Woollen, Cody Basham, Robert Stinson Bundrick, Jr., Alan Brown, and Jim Woollen. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Nick Liberto and Scott Oxford.In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest that memorials may be made to The Eternal Flame at First United Methodist Church, 500 Common St. Shreveport, LA 71101.
