BRYAN, Ohio — Bobby D. Metz, age 87, of Bryan, Ohio, and formerly of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:10 a.m.. on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mr. Metz was a 1946 graduate of Edgerton High School and had been a truck driver for 57 years, driving for Universal Tool in Butler, Indiana, for 40 years and then for Pahl's Ready Mix for 17 years, retiring at the age of 80. He was a member of the Edgerton Church of Christ, Bryan Eagles, Aerie 2233, and Bryan Moose Lodge 1064, where he had a Pilgrim Degree. He was an avid harness racing fan and had owned his own horses for some time. Bobby D. Metz was born on May 8, 1928, in Edgerton, the son of Chester and Lydia (Sleesman) Metz. He married Florabelle "Flo" Dixon on November 13, 1948, and she preceded him in death on March 4, 1987. He then married Marlene (Goebel) Breininger on September 18, 1993, and she survives. Survivors also include one daughter, Linda (Ron) Stayer of Auburn, Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Metz of Albion, Indiana; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother Chester Metz Jr., of Hicksville, Ohio. Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Cheryl (Terry) Karnes, Cindy (Duke Hutchins) Rau and Cathy (Marshal) Kosier, all of Bryan; seven stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, Sam Metz in 2005, and one stepson, Craig Breininger. Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 E. Hull St., Edgerton, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Donnie Goff officiating.
