TREMONTON - Bonnie Cornum Coombs, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 11th day of March 2009. Bonnie was born on May 10, 1919, in Sanford, Colo., the second child of Heber Dorrell and Elizabeth Pearl Cornum. Bonnie was raised in Sanford, Colo., where she met and married Paul Woodrow Coombs on April 30, 1938. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on Nov. 29, 1980. Together they raised 12 children, 59 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. They spent untold hours teaching, working, serving others, camping and fishing with their family. Bonnie was as accomplished cook and homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and loved to have her family and friends by her side. In 1997, the Tremonton Civic League nominated Bonnie as the "Mother of the Year". Bonnie enjoyed a deep and lasting friendship with everyone she came in contact with. Bonnie leaves a legacy of love, giving service when needed and always giving a helping hand. Bonnie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions in the Tremonton First Ward over the past 58 years. Bonnie will be remembered for her willingness to serve others. Bonnie is survived by eight daughters and two sons: Diane C. Taylor (Glenn), Bonnie Sue (Curtis) Grover, Vicki Ann (Tom) Allsop, Rebecca (Glenn) Holland, Debra (Randy) Ward, Pamela (Murray) Larsen, Alayne (Doug) Densley, Lori (Tim) Heyder, Jim (Debbie) Coombs and Sam (Betty) Coombs. Bonnie is also survived by three brothers and one sister: Monte (Ruth) Cornum, Frank Cornum, Kurt (Frankie) Cornum and Judy Parish. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; two sons, Mark (Lucille) Coombs and Ted (Sharon) Coombs; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: Duwayne Cornum, Gwendolyn Emerson and Shirley Fugate. Bonnie also lost an infant brother. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Tremonton First Ward Chapel, 166 North Tremont St., Tremonton, Utah. Friends may call at the Tremonton First Ward on Sunday, March 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 16, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Tremonton, Utah.
