Bradford (Brad) MillerWaukee, IA (formerly of Creston and Urbandale, IA)Bradford Eugene Miller, 74, went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2017, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017, and a Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Both will take place at First Family Church, 317 SE Magazine Road, Ankeny, IA. A Military burial will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, IA. Brad was born on October 19, 1942, in Creston, IA to Clifford A. Miller and Nellie Mahron Miller. He attended Creston Schools and graduated from Creston High School in 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the
United States Navy and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga Aircraft Carrier, along with his brother David, stationed at the North Island Airbase in Coronado, CA. During his time in the Navy, his ship made two trips to the Far East. While in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Sheets, on May 16, 1962.Upon his discharge from the Navy, he and Brenda made their home in Urbandale, IA. They lived in Urbandale for 38 years before moving to Waukee, IA in 2002. He enjoyed watching his children play different sports throughout their school years and even coached several baseball and softball teams. Brad enjoyed playing golf in his earlier years and he was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan. He and Brenda were season ticket holders for football & basketball for many years and attended games at home and away.Brad began a 33 year career with Colonial Baking Co. as a route salesman and earned the Salesman of the Year Award in his second year with the company. He also spent several years as a supervisor. He retired in 1996. After his retirement from Colonial, he worked for Dahls Foods for 11 years as a dairy manager retiring a second time in 2008.Brad is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda; daughter Kelli (Kevin) Pevestorf, Ankeny, IA; 2 sons, Brad (Emily) Miller, Polk City, IA; Mike (Deidre) Miller, serving as missionaries in Zambia, Africa; 9 grandchildren, Mitchell (Kelli); Brady, Brock, Bryce, Brecken (Brad). Bailey, Joshua, Abigail, Andrew (Mike); also surviving is a brother, David (Bonnie) Miller, Hemet, CA; 3 half-brothers, Steven (Melody) Miller, Donald Miller & Scott Miller, all of Creston, IA; step-sister, Joyce Manley, Creston, IA, and brother & Sister-in-law, Reldon and Beverly Stamper, West Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford A. Miller; mother, Nellie Miller; step-mother Pauline Miller and his grandparents.
