Brandon Morton Obituary

Feb 01, 2016 - Mar 01, 2008

This obituary is administered by:
Brandon Douglas Morton HYRUM - Brandon Douglas Morton, 26, passed away unexpectedly at home due to a brief illness on March 1, 2008. Brandon was born on Feb. 28, 1982, to Douglas and Katherine Morton in Logan, Utah. Brandon graduated from Mountain Crest High School in 2000 and was awarded the History Department Award. As a senior in high school, Brandon taught the World War I segment of a sophomore history class. He attended Utah State University and received two Bachelor of Art degrees in sociology and history. He was pursuing a Masters degree in history at USU. He was one credit from completing his degree when he passed away. Brandon was the greatest history buff and would read anything pertaining to history, especially the World War I era. His passion for history fueled his desire to teach others. Brandon was artistic and enjoyed creating art pieces with charcoal and pastels. He took pleasure in music of all types. He was particularly drawn to Bob Dylan and Jimmy Rodgers. From the time he was little, Brandon especially liked computer and board games that involved complex strategy. Brandon enjoyed studying the art of cooking and was in the process of becoming a great chef. His cooking brought family and friends together. Brandon had a soft heart for animals and cared for his two dogs greatly. Recently, when Brandon's dog Max was in the terminal stages of cancer, Brandon would sit near him and hand feed him to aid his dog in gaining strength. Not only did Brandon have a tender heart for animals, but people as well. Those whom he loved and cared for he did with all his heart. Brandon frequently performed acts of kindness for those he cared about. Brandon we love you and miss you so much. Our hearts are broken in your absence. We always thought you would be with us and it hurts to have such a large void in our lives. You live on in our hearts and our prayers are with you. We wish you peace and happiness. Brandon is survived by his parents, Douglas and Katherine Morton; his sisters, Darcey (Billy) Casavant and Deniece Reyes; his niece, Celina Reyes; his nephew, Ethan Casavant; his grandmother, Dixie Williams; his uncles and aunts, Linda (Bruce) Whatcott of Kanosh, Utah, Lyn (Caroline) Williams of Fillmore, Utah, Annette Taylor of Flowell, Utah, Kenny (Myrna) Morton of Cedar Ridge, Utah, Gary (Marva) Morton of Odgen, Utah, and Susan (Loren) Thunell of South Jordan, Utah; and numerous cousins. Brandon is preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Dern Williams; his grandfather, Emery L. Morton; his grandmother, Myrle B. Morton; and his nephew Tylan J. Reyes. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, March 6, 2008, in the Hyrum 6th Ward Chapel, 595 S. 200 East, in Hyrum. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan, and from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. prior to services Thursday at the church.
