TROUTMAN — Mrs. Brenda Jean Shorts Bray, 66, of Troutman, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was born on March 3, 1949, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to the late Ruth Doud and Norman Shorts. She attended Slippery Rock University. During her early years, she worked as a flight attendant for Eastern and United Airlines, and was also in management for Eastern Airlines. Besides being a homemaker, she also owned several businesses. A devoted woman of faith, she was strong, courageous and hopeful. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved gardening, nature, and fellowship, she made her life, home and spirit available to all of us who were blessed enough to embrace it. She is survived by her husband, Buddy Bray; sons, Michael Therrien (Nathan Rickel) of Palm Springs, California, and Justin Bray (Kristy) of Clearwater, Florida; daughter, Andrea Bray Scales (Toby) of Charlotte; sisters, Connie Cash of Mooresville and Deb Nantz of Clemmons; brother, Tom Shorts of Clemson, South Carolina; and grandchildren, Caylen and Chase Scales. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Troutman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 26, at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Mooresville with the Rev. Andrea Conder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
