Brenda (Bay) Joyce Smith, age 62, was the 5th out of six children born to Alexander Smith, Sr and Sarah Frances Manning Smith, she was born on January 17, 1958, in Laurinburg, NC. Brenda departed this world on March 27, 2020, in Rockingham, NC.

Brenda attended school at Laurinburg Junior High before she attended Scotland High School where she graduated with the Class of '76. After graduating she attended Richmond Technical Institute (now RCC). Brenda worked various jobs like Toastmaster, Fieldcrest, Scotland County Schools as a substitute teacher, etc. Later on she and her sister Shirley went to RCC and where they both obtained their CNA license. Brenda worked at Century Care and Ritch's Group Home.

Brenda was an avid softball player and enjoyed being around people. She knew many people and never met a stranger. She lived her life and never expressed any regrets to how she lived it.

Brenda was preceded in death by both of her parents and her siblings Willie (Snoop) Smith, Alexander (Chip) Smith Jr, Shirley (Shirl) Smith Henderson, Eula (Key) Smith Givian, Luther (Boo Boo) Smith, and John (Smitty) Smith.

Brenda leaves to cherish her loving memory: one daughter, Kenya (Kim) Smith (Rasheen) of Laurinburg, four grandchildren Nazir (Nas) Smith of Laurinburg, NC and Tiyanna (TT) Smith of Charlotte, NC, Quanise (Nicey) McQueen of Laurinburg, NC, and RaKim (Doo) Dockery of Laurinburg, NC, one aunt Eva McLean, two uncles Leon and Roy Thomas Smith all of Laurinburg, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, and a special sister Venita (Dohickie) Barrino.
