Brian FeeleyIndependence, MissouriBrian Michael Feeley, 51, passed away on May 3, 2017 in Independence, Missouri. He was born on September 7, 1965 in Des Moines, Iowa. Brian was the seventh and youngest child of John Thomas Feeley, Sr. and Lucille Mae (Flanders) Feeley.Brian grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Dowling High School in West Des Moines, Iowa in 1983. After high school, he enlisted and served in the U.S
Army from 1984 to 1986, and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal. He then transferred to the U.S Navy and spent four years on active duty from 1986 to 1990 and was stationed on the USS Merrill (DD-976) during Operation Earnest Will and Operation Praying Mantis in the Persian Gulf.After returning home from military service, Brian worked for Orkin Pest Control, first in Des Moines, Iowa and then in Independence, Missouri for over twenty years. Brian then decided to drive the big rigs over the road. He worked for several trucking firms including C R England, Paschall Truck Lines and SLC Trucking. Brian had received several safe driving awards. In recent years, he was an instructor and mentored new over the road drivers. Brian was a member of the Catholic Church. He actively supported his nieces and nephews, and took interest in their activities and functions. Brian will be especially remembered for his keen interest in older Chryslers and Lincoln Town Cars. He enjoyed listening to music, watching old television shows and reminiscing of past events. He is survived by three sisters, Mary Ann Avery (Patrick) of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy Jo Wilkinson (Rick) of Des Moines, Iowa, Colleen "Sissy" Golbuff (Tom) of Olathe, Kansas, two brothers, John Feeley, Jr. (Tammy) of Runnells, Iowa and James Feeley (Lucy) of Surprise, Arizona, 12 nieces, 7 nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and friends. He will be missed by his God children Abagail Avery, Cindy Wilkinson and RoseMarie Feeley.Brian was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Feeley, and a sister, Cynthia Arlene Feeley.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Monsignor Larry Beeson at Christ the King Church, 5601 S.W. 9th, Des Moines, Iowa at 10:00 am on Monday, June 26, 2017. Interment and Military Honors will follow at 12:30 pm at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, located in Van Meter, Iowa. A luncheon will follow at the Veterans Reception Center, American Legion Post 403 in Van Meter, Iowa. Memorial contributions can be made to .
