Brooke Peoples passed away on December 24th, 2017, at the Assisi Health Care Center of Clare Oaks in Bartlett. She was born on May 20, 1935, in New York City to Frank and Joan Detweiler, and attended school in New Rochelle, NY and Plainfield, NJ. In 1953, she graduated from the Solebury School in New Hope, Pennsylvania. She studied painting and design at Carnegie Mellon University and The Art Students League of New York. She married John Peoples, Jr. in 1955. They lived in Baltimore and New York City before moving to Geneva, IL in 1973, when John joined the Fermilab scientific staff. He later he served as the laboratory director from 1989 to 1999. In 1999 they moved to Wayne, IL, where she continued to pursue some of her favorite activities: painting, tending gardens and hiking with her family and dogs. In 2012, John and Brooke moved to Clare Oaks in Bartlett. Brooke was an artist and a homemaker with a unique sense of style and color. She showed her paintings in galleries around the Fox Valley area. She was an active member of the Fermilab Auditorium Committee and the Art Gallery Committee for many years. She is survived by her husband John and daughter Vanessa (Craig Duplack). She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Susan Hager and Heidi Hanson; her brother, Bruce Detweiler; and her daughter, Jennet Peoples. A memorial service will be held at Williams-Woodward Funeral Home, 820 Pine Street, West Chicago on February 4, 2017.
