Buzz Rutherford LUBBOCK-Buzz Rutherford passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 60 years on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Buzz was born on Oct. 22, 1956, to Kenneth and Nancy (Nixon) Rutherford in Lubbock, and graduated from Monterey High School. A lifelong resident of Lubbock, Buzz dedicated his career of 30 plus years as a product merchandiser working for Great Plains Distributors, Lubbock Beverage Company, Terk Distributing, and Weldon Reichart, Inc. In addition to the beverage industry, he was operations manager of Texas Candle Company four years. He was an organ donor. His special interests included photography, fishing, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech fan. Buzz was also dedicated to his family and spending time with them was a major priority. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ezell Rutherford; a sister, Brenda Kay Rutherford; and his beloved dog, Oscar. Buzz is survived by his mother, Nancy Lea Rutherford; a daughter, Amy Messer and husband, Brian of Lubbock; four grandchildren: Alexis Punkin and Bailey Peanut Byrd, and Hudson and Weston Messer; a brother, Don Wayne Rutherford and wife, Susie Murphy of Houston; and a sister, Kandy Sue Myers of Colorado Springs, CO.
