Calvin Campbell, 73, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed on September 08, 2023 Calvin Campbell was born August 30, 1956, a son of Hattie Campbell Bryant and the Reverend Marcus Burke, Jr. “CC”, as he was affectionately known, was reared by his grandparents, Reginald and Sarah Campbell on Hilton Head Island in the Spanish Wells community.
CC was educated in the public schools of Beaufort. After graduating from HE McCracken High School in 1974, he attended Denmark Technical College to begin his studies in cobbling.
At the age of 24, CC owned and operated CC’s Car Wash, which was one of the first car detailing business on Hilton Head Island. CC was a very talented man. He was called upon for his expertise and business savvy in landscaping, painting, cooking, and power Washington, not only here on Hilton Head Island, but along the entire southeast. A true and passionate person, CC never met a stranger. CC readily volunteered at the Penn Center Heritage Celebration, the Gullah Celebration of Hilton Head Island, and the Verizon Heritage Tournament.
Calvin joined and became an active member in Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He served as an active member in the church choir and male chorus. He volunteered and served the Lord wherever he was needed.
On Friday, August 7, 2015, the angels in heaven opened its gates to welcome CC to eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Hattie (Jesse) Bryant of Boston, MA; his father, Reverend Marcus (Sandra) Burke, Jr. of Thomasville, GA; his brothers: Lawrence (Shelia) Campbell of Pooler, GA, Marcus Burke, III of Daytona Beach, FL, Sidrowe (Phronie) Jackson of Washington, DC and Joseph Williams of Thomasville, GA; his sisters: Melissa Burke Jackson of Daytona Beach, FL, Kimberly (Vance) Johnson of Killeen, TX and Katrina (Charles) Tilman of McDonough, GA; and a host of dedicated uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
