Calvin H. Hewitt1924 - 2013Calvin H. Hewitt, 89, of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday October 15, 2013 at Brookside Care Center.He was born on Sept. 22, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Herbert and Agnes Blair Hewitt.Calvin lived in Chicago until 1943 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater.On Oct. 10, 1947, he married Marjorie Fogwell. They both have lived in Bristol since 1950.Calvin attended and graduated from Beloit College and was employed by the Simmons Company. In 1957, he was appointed as the Kenosha County Veterans Service Officer and served in that capacity for 29 years retiring in 1987.Cal was a volunteer at the local Easter Seals Unit for 30 years and a member of the local VFW and American Legion.He enjoyed reading WWII books and biographies of the U.S. Presidents. He also planted 1000s of Daffodils in his Bristol meadow. He enjoyed bird watching and participating in the Christmas Count. Cal raised and lowered his U.S. Flag every day. Surviving Calvin is Marjorie his wife of 66 years; one son, David (Gloria) Hewitt of Racine, Wis.; two daughters, Deborah (Richard) Polansky of Genoa City, Wis., Sarah (Philip) Bauer of Twin Lakes, Wis.; his daughter-in-law, Linda Hewitt of Salem, Wis.; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; one sister Elva Duke of Tucon, Ariz.He was preceded in death by his son Andrew and one sister Dorothy Fluga.A Memorial gathering will be held at the Proko Funeral Home on Monday, Oct., 21, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be private.Memorial contributions may be made to the Easter Seals Kenosha Unit 7101 53rd St, Kenosha, WI 53144 or the STARS AND STRIPES HONOR FLIGHT PO BOX 636 PORT WASHINGTON, WI, 53074.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111 60th St. 262 654 3533Visit Calvins Online Memorial Book At:www.prokofuneralhome.com
