Candace Marie Keightley-VineCandace Marie Keightley-Vine passed away on February 20 2017 following a yearlong battle with ALS. She completed her earthly mission at her home in St George, Utah where she was very much loved. She will be missed by her husband Bob, her extended family and many friends. Candace was born on April 2 1950 in East Chicago Indiana, the daughter of Robert Keightley and Ainka (Ann) Habzanski Keightley. She grew up in Hammond, Indiana and graduated from Hammond High School in 1968. Candace had one beloved daughter, Melissa Ann Sauder from a previous marriage, who died unexpectedly in Chicago Illinois in 2014. Candace loved her daughter very much and missed her every day. In 1988 two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints knocked on the door of her home in Lisle, Illinois. That event began her life journey as a Latter-Day Saint. She married Robert D Vine in 1989 in the Seattle Washington LDS Temple. Thereafter she would sometimes introduce herself by saying "my name is Candace and I married a man with 5 children". She resided most of her life in Illinois with 7 years spent in Hartsville South Carolina. In 1996 she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at North Western Illinois UniversityCandace and Bob worked together through the challenges of life. In 1997 she survived a bout with
breast cancer. Soon after her recovery she would state that life was too short and she wanted to see the world. During the following years, she traveled to England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Israel, South Africa, South Korea, China and Tibet. From 2006 to 2008 Candace and Bob served a two-year mission for the LDS church in Zimbabwe and Zambia, Africa. They traveled as Employment Missionaries teaching the wonderful African people how to first prepare themselves for employment and then find and keep jobs. They also taught a workshop on how to start and run a small business. After their mission, they settled in St George Utah where they worked in the St George LDS Temple. She loved her assignment as a temple ordinance worker and worked faithfully until May 2016 when her health began to fail.Candace is survived by her husband Robert D Vine of Warren, Ohio, her sister Robin Keightley (Silvester Evetovich) of San Diego, California, a half-sister Denise Dodson of Kissimmee, Florida, and step children Michelle (Jared) Ashley of Byron, IL, Jennifer (Jared) Scott of Hyrum UT, Jonathan Vine (Kimberly Buck) of Farmington UT, Angela (Scott) Hansen of Weiser ID and Harmony (Michael) Orgill of Goshen IN. Candace and Bob together enjoyed the blessings of 21 grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear and close cousins and an aunt on her father's side who all love her very much. Candace was known for her pleasing smile and outgoing personality. She will be greatly missed by her husband Bob and all those their many family and friends who felt the light of her presence in their lives.Burial was at the Tonaquint Cemetery in St George Utah. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10:00am with a visitation at 9:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located on 1222 East Brigham Road, St. George, Utah.Condolences may be shared at
