KINSTON | Cara Lael Beruk Hartwell, 53, of Kinston, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. She was born on October 16, 1962, in Newburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Richard and Mary Beruk, formerly of New York. Cara graduated from Marlboro High School and SUNY Geneseo, and later obtained her Master's Degree from Quinnipac University. In 2010, Cara moved to Kinston to care for her mother after her father's passing. She met many wonderful people here and enjoyed attending live concerts, sports games and exploring new cities throughout North Carolina, especially those with a beach! Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and special friend, Paul Albritton. She is survived by her sons, Andrew, age 24, and Matthew, age 20; sisters Dana Siegel and husband David, of Memphis, Tenn., Larisa Harrison of Greenville, N.C.; and brothers, Peter Beruk of Fairfax, Va. and Jeff Beruk of Apex, N.C. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her father, brother Ricky, and sister Jenny. Visitation will be held at noon on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
