Cardino RosatoMANSFIELD: Cardino Antonio Rosato passed away peacefully at St. John Medical Center on March 12th in Westlake, Ohio at the age of 86.Cardi was born on July 28, 1930 in Newark, Ohio to Italian immigrants Francesco Paolo and Giulia Profeta Rosato. He joined the marines and fought in the
Korean War, becoming a sergeant at the age of 18. In the boxing ring, he was a welterweight champion known as "Tony" and never lost his fighting spirit. A Mansfield resident since 1956, he was the owner/operator of Di-Ela Professional Photo Lab for more than 20 years. He was a proud member of the Korean War Veterans, YMCA Silver Sneakers, Knights of Columbus, St. Peter's Catholic Church and volunteered for many years at the Mansfield VA Clinic.Most remember his infectious smile, delicious meatballs, harmonica talents, and generous spirit. He never hesitated to help someone in need whether buying a cup of coffee, offering a ride, or giving his last dollar.Cardino is survived by his wife Pamela (Yarman) of 45 years, children Cardino Jr. of Columbus, Forrest Wonderlen of Columbus, Victoria of Florida, Tina of Newark, and Giuliangela (Joseph Mulherin) of Mansfield; sisters-in-law Mary Rosato of Powell and Annetta Rosato of Florida; 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins here and in Italy, Belgium, and France.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Maria Stella Rosato and Isolina (Rosie) Boren; brothers Arcolino and Alfred Rosato; brother-in-law Russell Boren, niece Julie Boren, great-nephew Jesse Enderle, and great-grandson Jade Agustin Rosato-Garey.The family would like to thank the staff at The Good Shepherd in Ashland for their care and genuine compassion over the past 4 ½ years.Friends and family may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Ave. West, on Thursday, March 16th from 4:30pm - 7:00pm with a vigil service at 4:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 17th at 10:00am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 54 S. Mulberry St. with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating.
