Carl S. Ellis, 86, Springville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3 2013, at home. He was born on January 31, 1927 in Dimock Twp., to the late Frederick S. & Harriet M. (Babcock) Ellis. Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Viola M. (Decker) Ellis, Springville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Gail Ellis, Calif., Jeff and Patty Ellis, N.J.; two daughters and son-in-law, Carla and George Endly, N.J.; Peggy Konrad, Lawton; three sisters, Betty Button, Vivian Hathaway, Beulah Herman; one brother, Clayton Ellis; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Clifton Ellis.Carl was a loving husband and father. Carl was a World War IIArmy veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Allstate Insurance after 25 years as an auto claims supervisor. Carl was a member of the NRA and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating; he was an excellent marksman. Carl was also an exceptional baseball player and received an offer to play in the pros. He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. Carl was an honest and caring person who treated everyone equally the same. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Spering officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 6-9 pm. Interment will be at the Tyler Hill Cemetery, Dimock, PA.Memorial contributions can be made in Carl's memory to the , 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA 18701.
