The son of John and Ida (Lindner) Bensch, he was born on June 27, 1921, on the family farm in Oak Harbor, where he lived his entire life. Then at the age of 75, he re-sided the original barn on this property in order to preserve its life for many years to come. Carl served for several terms on the Northwest Ohio Ag Credit Board and was president of the Woodville Mutual Insurance Company Board for over 20 years. In retirement he enjoyed reading, woodworking and attending his grandchildren's activities. Possessing a great sense of humor and trademark smile, he was known for his ability to come up with a story for just about any situation. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rocky Ridge. He faithfully served his church whenever needed, whether it was as a council member, Sunday School teacher or snow plower. He sang in the church choir for 67 years and enjoyed playing on the dartball team.Visitation for Carl will be 2-8 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E.
