LIGONIER — Carl J. Kavanaugh Jr., age 65, of Ligonier, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at his home. He was born on October 30, 1949, in Beech Grove, Indiana, the son of Carl J. and Mary (Poths) Kavanaugh. On August 7, 1971, he married Margery "Margie" Mathew; she survives. Also, surviving are his children, Mathew Kavanaugh of Indianapolis, Indiana and Allison (Kyle) Lambert of Greensboro, North Carolina; his mother, Mary Kavanaugh of Beech Grove, Indiana; his siblings, Carol (Hal) Yeagy of Greenwood, Indiana, Craig (Mary) Kavanaugh of Plainfield, Indiana, Christina (Tom) Conway of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Carla Kavanaugh of Beech Grove, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in life science. He retired from G & S Products in Ligonier in 2013 following 17 years of faithful service. He was a dedicated family man, and always supported his children in all their endeavors. Carl served on the West Noble School Board and was the school statistician for West Noble High School football and basketball for many years. Carl enjoyed tennis, attending sporting events, was an avid reader, and had a love for history and the sciences. A funeral service in Carl's honor will be held at Ligonier United Methodist Church, 466 Townline Road, Ligonier, Indiana, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Pastor Jill Wright will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
