QuinnQuinn, Carl Norman, Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Lima, Ohio, was born on August 2, 1926 to Urban and Mary Giesken Quinn in Glandorf, Ohio. He died on August 3, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jake and his wife Dorothy, Louie and his wife Ruth, Bob and his wife Marty, and Dick; his sisters Margaret and her husband Ray Stechschulte, Mary Louise and her husband Paul Deters, Clarine and her husband Carl Wilhelm, Jeanette and her husband John Bowers; an infant sister Emma; nieces Marie Wilhelm, Mary Quinn, Mary Ann Donnelly, and Janine Quinn; nephews Jim Bowers, Dean Bowers, Jim Deters, and Bobby Graham; and brothers-in-law Norman Schmenk, Gene Stechschulte, Bob Graham, and Tom Reed and his wife Dortha, and sister-in-law Jeannie Quinn. In our hearts, we know they are all celebrating eternal life with our heavenly Father. Carl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn (known as Skip by all) Loretta Reed Quinn, his sons Timothy and Anthony Quinn, his daughters Gloria and husband Alan McMillan, Sandy and husband Steve Shipley, Carla and husband Chris Shrimpton, Belinda and husband Bill Reynolds, Amy and husband Tim Driscoll, grandchildren Matthew Quinn, Kyle and Sara Shipley, Collin Shipley, Kevin Shipley, Michael and Danielle Shrimpton, Eric and Addie Shrimpton, Brian and Tina Shrimpton, Abby, Eric and Ryan Reynolds, Megan, Madeline and Emily Driscoll and great-grandchildren Kiley and Aiden Shipley, and Owen Shrimpton. He is also survived by brother Jack Quinn, sisters Dorothy Schmenk, Mary Jane Stechschulte, Betty and husband Paul Stechschulte, sisters-in-law Ruthie Quinn and Betty Graham, brother-in-law Jack Reed, and brother-in-law Duanne and wife Lena Reed, and literally hundreds of nieces and nephews. Carl was a veteran of World War II, serving from October 30, 1946, receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Corporal in the U.S. Army on December 16, 1949. He then began a long and successful career in the produce business, culminating with his retirement from the Castellini Company of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1995. His Britney Acres neighbors became life-long friends, enjoying 40 plus years of parties, celebrations and camaraderie. Retirement was a time of great enjoyment for Carl and his family. He loved maintaining his beautiful yard, traveling, playing softball and spending time at his beloved Chaska Beach on Lake Erie. Carl taught all of his children and grandchildren to water-ski and he was kayaking and boating well into his 80's. His many friends at Chaska Beach will remember Carl cleaning the beach and always striking up a conversation with beach-goers. Carl never knew a stranger. There was no bigger fan of the Cincinnati Reds or Xavier University basketball. Carl was a devout and dedicated Roman Catholic. Upon retirement, he went to church every day he could. After Mass, he and a group of his friends, the McGeezers, met at McDonalds to solve the problems of the world. He was proud to be a Knight of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. Carl was a selfless man of integrity. He and Skip sacrificed all so that their children could attend Catholic schools and college. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
