Smith, Carl R.,81, passed away on Monday March 13, 2017. He was born on June 9, 1935 to the late Ernest and Clara Smith. He was a retired self employed manufacturers agent, a graduate of Bellarmine College and St. X High School. Carl was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Midland Trail Golf Club and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Smith and sister, June Pfiester; and his very special Pointer Boxer "Coach".Carl is survived by his wife, Charlotte Shircliff Smith; children, Michael R. Smith, Michele Smith Matthews (Michael), and Yvonne Smith; granddaughter, Heather Smith (Brian); great grandchildren, Cooper and Emma Smith; his funny and beloved Wheaten Terrier "Finnigan" "The Irishman"; sister, Betsy Putnam; brother Richard Smith; his faithful brother in law, John Shircliff ; beloved nieces and nephews, sports car rally friends, bicycle friends, St. Patrick Choir members and fellow golfers.The family is thankful for the incredible care he received at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and E.R; the Episcopal Church Home and Hosparus of Louisville.Celebration of Life mass will be held at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1000 North Beckley Station Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Prelude music will begin at church at 9:30 am prior to mass.
