Carla Rogers passed away on May 16, 2024, at the age of 57, in her beloved hometown of Newberry, South Carolina. Born on July 27, 1966, Carla lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Carla was the daughter of late Sammy Elkin and Kathrine Benson, who raised her with love and care. She shared many wonderful years with her husband, Wayne Rogers of Whitmire, SC, and together they were proud parents to their two children, Antonio Lindsay and Dewayne Rogers, both of Newberry, SC. She also had a wonderful mother-in-law, who has passed on, Mildred Rogers of Whitmire, SC. She also leaves behind one sister, Katherine (Kenneth) Oxner of Newberry, SC, two brothers, David Mathis of Newberry, SC and Carl Mathis of Wilmington, NC.
Carla was a dedicated student at Newberry High School, where she excelled in her studies and discovered her passion for running track. Her competitive spirit and athletic prowess were always evident, and she made many cherished memories on the track.
Carla's zest for life was infectious, and she brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Her warm smile and caring nature endeared her to all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and community.
Although Carla has left this world, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She is also survived by two grandchildren, one great-grand child, and a beloved niece, Katrina Mathis who will always hold her close in their hearts.
Carla's passing was a natural one, and she departed peacefully, surrounded by those she loved. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who brought light and love to all who knew her.
