Carleton A. "Carl" Gentz1924 - 2016Carleton "Carl" A. Gentz, 92, of Kenosha, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Brookside Care Center.He was born on Aug. 4, 1924, to the late Paul A. and Florence M. (Conwell) Gentz in Kenosha. He graduated from Bradford High School and was a life long resident of Kenosha until moving to rural Tomahawk with his wife Rosemary in 1986.On Oct. 11, 1947, he was united in marriage with Rosemary E. Lourigan at St. Mark Catholic Church. While a parishioner at St. Mark Catholic Church he served as an usher, a captain in fund drives, and a Cub Scout leader. In Tomahawk he and his wife were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.Carl retired from the American Brass Company in 1983 where he was employed as a specification technician.Carl and his wife Rosemary enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing host to grandchildren at their cabin in Tomahawk on the "Spirit Flowage." They enjoyed spending winters in the Rio Grand Valley in Texas and on the waters of "Toledo Bend" Lake in Louisiana.Carl was a WWIIVeteran serving with the US Army in Europe in the 553rd AAA Battalion. He held the position of Cannoner and was awarded three Bronze Battle Stars. He was a Kenosha County Board Supervisor for 16 years representing the old 6th Ward for 12 years and the 3rd District for four years.He is survived by his loving children, David Gentz of Kenosha, Paul (Robin) Gentz of San Ramon, Calif., Karen (Bruce) Crane of Pleasant Prairie, Joan (Michael) Breen of Winneconne, Donna (James) Roemer of Kenosha, Richard (Karen) Gentz of Stanley, Theresa (Kent) Waldow of Kenosha, William (Deborah) Gentz of Vesper; 21 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.His wife, Rosemary of 52 years, his daughter, Barbara, and his son, John, precede him in death.A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church (9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie). Friends are asked to meet at the Church at 8:45 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home.The family would like to thank the staff at Brookside Care Center for their loving and compassionate care given to Carl.
