Carlos Nicolas Garrido Sanchez, 42, formerly of Logan, Utah, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at the home of his brother, Ricardo Garrido, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He was born on April 1, 1966, in Torreon, Mexico, to Hernando Garrido Amaya and Josefina Sanchez Zuniga. He was the 11th child of 13, having nine brothers and three sisters. Given the opportunity to study in the United States, he came to Provo, Utah, in 1986. He married Rebecca Rasband Garrido on July 18, 1987. They have three daughters, Hannah Nicole, Megan Marie and Melanie Joan. Carlos received two degrees from Brigham Young University in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in 1993. During his career, he was a valued employee due to his creativity, ingenuity, vision of the big picture and team-building skills. He was employed by several companies including Oldham Associates, Kraft Foods, Frito-Lay, Dairy Farmers of America, Hyclone and Leprino Foods. He received great satisfaction from successful completion of challenging projects and from being able to provide well for his family. Carlos had a great sense of humor. He spent hours and hours clowning around and sharing stories, many of which he invented himself, with family and friends. He loved exploring, traveling and motorcycling with his wife. He prided himself on his home improvement projects and gardening. His yard was the envy of the neighborhood. He was an avid fisherman and model airplane pilot. He loved teaching his daughters to ride bikes, to enjoy the outdoors and to learn new things. Carlos is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rasband Garrido, and his daughters, Hannah Nicole, Megan Marie and Melanie Joan. He is also survived by his siblings, Ma. Del Socorro, Ma. De Jesus, Hernando, Jose, Alfonso, Rosario, Jorge, Ricardo, Rafael, Roberto, Juan and Luis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hernando Garrido Amaya and Josefina Sanchez Zuniga. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the LDS church located at 795 N. 500 E. Logan, Utah. Family and friends may share condolences from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of the daughters of Carlos Garrido at Washington Mutual Bank, 750 N. Main St., Logan, Utah.
