Carmine Tortarella Jr.Port St. Lucie, FL - Carmine F. (Jitter) Tortarella, Jr., 75, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.Carmine was born on October 26, 1941 in Rhinebeck, New York, to the late Carmine, Sr. and Loretta (Lattin) Tortarella. On October 10, 1964, he married Patricia A. Farrell at Mt. Carmel Church, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage together. He served in the U. S. Marines from December of 1960 to December of 1963 attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. Carmine was a volunteer
fireman, softball player, horseshoe player, hunter and fisherman. He was employed by C. F. Tortarella & Sons Tank and Pump Service, Iron Mountain Security Storage Corp., and Baptist Nursing Home. He was employed at IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York. After a period of retirement, he returned to part time employment at HITS Horse Shows in Saugerties where he performed maintenance duties and operated heavy equipment.In addition to his wife, Carmine is survived by two daughters, Lisa Tortarella, and Tracy and her husband, Steven Whitaker; two grandchildren, Trevor and Jessie Whitaker; his brother and sister-in-law, Rodney J. and Sharon Tortarella; his mother-in-law, Lucy A. Farrell; his in-laws, Robert and Diane Farrell; Karen and Jose Silveira; and Cynthia Farrell. His brother-in-law, David Farrell, predeceased him. He is also survived by his uncle, Douglas Lattin, of Choctaw, Oklahoma. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Carmine is also survived by his beloved dog, TJ.Calling hours will be at Dapson Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, New York, on Friday, November 17, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
