Carol Williams, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, passed away on September 7, 2023, in Winton, North Carolina. Born on April 3, 1972, Carol touched the lives of everyone she met with her warm heart, infectious laugh, and unwavering love for those around her.
Carol was born and raised in Winton, a small town she always proudly called home. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Eley. Carol had a unique ability to bring people together and create a sense of belonging. Her genuine love for her family and friends knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent in their presence.
As an outstanding scholar, Carol pursued her academic dreams, graduating from Ahoskie High School with honors. She continued her journey at the University of North Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Carol's dedication and determination led her to a successful career in finance, where she made a lasting impact by helping numerous individuals and businesses thrive.
Carol's kind and compassionate spirit extended beyond her professional life. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in St. John, where she faithfully served her community. Whether it was volunteering at the local food bank or participating in outreach programs, Carol embodied the values of selflessness and generosity.
In 1999, Carol found the love of her life, Christopher Williams, and their union was a true testament to the power of love. Together, they blended a beautiful family and shared countless memories filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional support. Carol was a devoted wife and a pillar of strength for her husband, always encouraging him to pursue his dreams.
Nothing brought Carol more happiness than being a loving and nurturing mother and step-mother to her and Christopher’s five children: Eric, Matthew, Kiana, Dezimber, and Amber. She poured her heart into every aspect of their lives, imparting invaluable wisdom, instilling strong values, and encouraging independence. Carol's children were her pride and joy, and her love for them was unparalleled.
Carol had a zest for life that was contagious. She was an avid traveler, always eager to explore new cultures and make lifelong memories with her loved ones. From adventurous hikes in the majestic mountains to serene beach vacations, Carol cherished the beauty of the world and the people she shared these adventures with.
Aside from her family and friends, Carol had a deep love for literature, music, and art. She had an extensive collection of classic novels, and she spent countless hours immersed in their pages. Carol also had a talent for playing the piano, creating melody and harmony that resonated within the hearts of those who heard her play.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Williams; her children, Matthew and Amber Williams; her step-children, Eric Jones, Kiana Jones, and Dezimber Sawyer; her siblings, Sarah and Michael Eley; her 10 grandchildren; and a large extended family who will cherish her memory always.
A memorial service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church on September 14, 2023, at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Carol's honor.
