Carol (Soderlind) Mann, of Hickory Circle, Middletown, widow of William Mann, died Saturday November 5, 2016 at home surrounded by her children. She was born on December 17, 1925 in Orange, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late John W. Soderlind and Edith (Heberg) Soderlind. Carol had lived in Connecticut since 1940, graduating from Middletown High in 1944. Prior to her retirement in 1995 Carol was employed by the State of Connecticut as a Jury Clerk and helped organize the first program of the One Day/One Jury Trial jury system. She was also the first Jury Services Assistant. The friendships that Carol made during her tenure at Middlesex Superior Court gave her much joy and she considered these colleagues as her second family. Carol was also a member and past Vice President of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Pius X Church, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and a former member of the Middletown Democratic Town Committee. Carol is survived by her four children, Barbara and her husband Dennis ORourke, Edward and his wife Jillene, William and his husband Timothy Huber, and daughter Kathleen Mann. She is also survived by a sister Mildred Trylowski, six much-loved grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Carol was blessed to have many loving nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends who provided her with much comfort and joy. Carol was predeceased by her husband William and her sister Doris Bosco. Pallbearers are daughter Kathleen, grandsons Liam ORourke and Matthew Mann, grandsons-in-law, Brian Brady, Beau Warrek, and Troy Hennessy. The Eucharistic gifts are being presented by granddaughters Brigid Brady, Melissa Warrek, Siobhan Hennessy, and Dayna Mann. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street. Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in St. Pius X Church, Westfield St., Middletown. Burial will be privately held at the State Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home.
