RACINE - Mrs. Carol R. Wiersum, 89, passed away at Becker-Shoop Center on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. A lifelong resident of Racine, she was born on October 3, 1923, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (nee: Lahr) Haumersen. She graduated from Washington Park High School and attended a year at Bob Jones University. On January 2, 1948 she married Myron T. Wiersum. Mrs. Wiersum was a longtime devoted member of Racine Bible Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister that always cherished being in the presence of her family. Mrs. Wiersum loved children and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. For many years she taught Sunday school, Bible school and at Pioneer Girls. She also enjoyed knitting, reading and sewing. In addition to her husband, Myron, she is survived by her daughter, Jean (John) Friesema of Woodland Park, CO; her grandchildren, Kari (Jason) Masilian of Racine, Jason (Tricia) Friesema, Josh (Ann-Marie) Friesema both of Woodland Park, CO, John (Annie) Friesema of Colorado Springs, CO; her great grandchildren, Noah, Keziah, Ellie and Isaac, Kenny, Ava, Jett and Jonas; her daughter-in-law, Marla Wiersum of Racine; her sister and brothers, Sally (Harold) Hay of Racine, David (Kathy) Haumersen of Woodbury. MN; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Haumersen of Racine, Marion Wiersum of Grafton, WI, Harold (Lois) Wiersum of Racine; as well as numerous dear nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Theodore Wiersum, Robert Wiersum; her sisters and brother, Louise (Don) Webster, Jeanne (Merrill) Mulder, Charles Haumersen, Paul Haumersen and brothers-in-law, Chester (Ellen) Wiersum, Clyde (Marjorie) Wiersum, Roger Wiersum and Quintin (Jean) Wiersum . Family and friends are invited to meet at Racine Bible Church (12505 Spring St.) on Monday, June 10, 2013 for a visitation from 10-11 a.m. The celebration of her life and funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials have been suggested to Racine Bible Church for mission work.
