CAROL ANN WURM, 61 SCALES MOUND - Carol Ann Wurm, 61, of Scales Mound, passed away at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community, with her family by her side. Carol Ann was born on October 25, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Emma Lou (Wand) Altfillisch. She married Rodney W. "Rod" Wurm on October 30, 1971, in Scales Mound. Carol Ann and Rod farmed in rural Scales Mound. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, a graduate of Scales Mound High School, loved watching and participating in various sporting events, listening to music of the 60's, and was very devoted to her grandchildren. Surviving is her husband, Rod; two daughters, Angie (Chris) Koehn of Freeport, Melissa (Jeremy) Soppe, and son, William (fiancée, Amanda Brant) Wurm, both of Scales Mound; eight grandchildren, Cameron, Kaitlan and Kristin Koehn, Ethan and Aidan Soppe, Jillian, Madison and Makayla Wurm; three loving siblings, Linda Lou (Thomas) Bunker of Wisconsin, Kevin (Elizabeth) Altfillisch of Freeport, and Barry (Shari) Altfillisch of Scales Mound; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol Ann was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rhonda Sue Wurm and future son-in-law, Darin Oellerich whom both died on June 21, 1999; father-in-law, Keith Wurm; mothers-in-law, Helen Wurm and Glada Wurm; and nephew, Jason Altfillisch. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Scales Mound, with Fr. Max Lasrado officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Miller-Steinke Funeral Home in Scales Mound, where the parish scripture service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
