Carole McCormack, nicknamed Kit, became an angel on October 24, 2016 after a long struggle with Mycobacteria. She was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Kay and Dick McCormack, the latter an officer in the Portsmouth Police Force. Raised Roman Catholic along with her sister, Mary Jo Chadwick, Carole’s faith endured throughout her life. Known for her fierce loyalty as a sister, friend, wife and mother, Carole often commented that she had lived two lives, one in New England with her first husband Jim, co-founder of the McCormack & Dodge Corporation who predeceased her in 1994, and another with her second husband Arthur, who was with her at her passing in Florida.
Carole touched many lives in her 79 years in the Greater Boston area, southern Maryland and Stuart, Florida. In her life Kit was many things, most of which involved guiding or encouraging or healing others. She was a nurse, an avid gardener, a tennis coach, a sports referee, a mother, a wife, and a courageous entrepreneur. Carole traveled the world both for business and to visit her children and was always enthralled by different cultures and people. She was dearly loved and will be missed most by her children, Michael, Kati, Patrick and Johanna; her sister, Mary Jo, her husband, Arthur and his children along with her 14 grandchildren. A celebration of Carole’s life will be held this summer in Portsmouth, NH. Contact the family for details: [email protected].
