Carolyn Madden , 92, passed on January 12, 2023. She was born to Albert and Elizabeth Augustus on April 26, 1930.
She married Richard Madden in 1951 and they lived together in Stafford, Virginia. Together they raised 4 children Charlene “Charlie” Elrond (Philip ), Annie Bristol (Timothy ), Andrew “Andy” Madden (Diane), Collin Madden (Sophia ). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn worked at acting, mainly being a Queen Elizabeth II impersonator until she retired in 1992. In 1976, Carolyn was honored with the Best Performance Reward for portraying the Queen .
Carolyn served her country in the Light Wheel Mechanics Service, were she was an engineer like the Queen herself.
Carolyn actually met Queen Elizabeth II in 1981 when she was invited to Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding. It was one of the greatest privileges of her life, and she was pleased that the Queen said she greatly appreciated her work. She didnt meet the Queen, but met Princess Diana in 1986 at Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's wending. Princess Diana also said she enjoyed Carolyn's work. Carolyn loved meeting both of these extrodinary women. She was also invited to both Princess Diana's and the Queen's funerals.
She was actually allowed inside St. George's Chapel and got to see the exact moment the Queen's reign came to an end. Carolyn said that, that moment was one of the saddest of her life. When the Queen's reign came to an end it was like she was gone to.
Now the family hopes that Carolyn and Queen Elizabeth are both setting up in heaven talking about their extraordinary lives, and the love of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family will have a visitation on January 15, 2023, from 6pm - 9pm at Preston and Sons Funeral Home of Manassas. Another visitation will be held on January 16, 2023 from 10am - 12pm. A funeral service will follow at 12pm, interment will follow to Quantico National Cemetery. A reception will be held back at the funeral at 6pm that night.
Arrangements are being held through Funeral Director Jennifer Preston.
