Her Legacy
Carolyn L. Moss- Spencer, well known as " Toughie", was born on October 29, 1941 in Boonton, New Jersey to the wonderful parents of Florence Stella Cornish and James Ernest Bullock- both deceased.
Carolyn graduated from Boonton High School and went on to receiving her BSN at Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey. She then went on to Albert Einstein Medical Center School where she received her Master's Degree. After graduating from Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing in 1962, Carolyn went to Morristown to begin her career. She started working in the Recovery Roon as a staff nurse. Because of her impecable work ethic, she was quickly promoted as Coordinator. After some years later, she went on to work in the old Franklin Street Ambulatory Unit as Coordinator. In the late 1990's , she became the first Coordinator to work in the Surgical Access Unit. During this time, she also worked at Morris Hills Nursing Home. Throughout her career, Carolyn demonstrated her excellent nursing skills with a special caring and sense of humor that the patients always remembered. She was truly a nurse with a calling and lived her dream as being a nurse for 56 years.
In the early years of her life, Carolyn met and married Alvin J. Moss and from that union they had two beautiful children, Pamela Lynn Moss and Brent Steven Moss. Later in life, God blessed her with the chance to fall in love again in which she met and married William C. Spencer. The two became one and created a blended family.
Carolyn was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years. During her membership at Mt. Zion, she was involved in the Dr. Robert O.StanffordScholarship Committee, Pastoral Leader of Sheperd's Care, teacher of Vacation Bible School, member of Women's Ministry, member of 100th Anniversary Committee, and President of the Nurses Aid Ministry.
What she is known for the most is her knitting and crotcheting . She also enjoyed singing , reading, caring for other, traveling, and serving the Lord.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her two children, Pamela Moss and Brent Moss as well as her siblings James " Sonny " Bullock Jr, Beverly Montgomery and Bernice.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband of 25 years, William C. Spencer; twelve grandchildren, Micah Moss, Janelle Moss, Darriel Anderson, Ravin Anderson, Kashondre Kennedy, Nakilyah Richmoond, Tommy Richmond Jr, Spencer Richmond, Christyl Jenkins, Briana Spencer, Steve-o Spencer, and Brooke Spencer; daughters; Michelle Richmond, Tonya Spencer, Dorthea Sease; Son, Tony Spencer, Michael Spencer, Son in law, Tommy Richmond; a spiritual daughter, Raylette Garrison; cousin Stella Wiggins; a loving sister Brenda Bankhead; three nieces Phoebe Search, Renee Montgomery and Erika Bankhead; nephew, Jim Search; and a host of family and friends.
