Carolyn Sullivan was born on September 5, 1961, to Ida Mae Harris and Albert Turnage in Jackson, Ms. She was the eldest of 4 children. Carolyn moved to Gulfport, MS from Jackson in the 1980's where she met her husband, George Sullivan. They later wed on September 22, 1984, at a small church in Gulfport. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family deeply and believed in maintaining family ties. Throughout her life she had several passions including attending church services in which she was a member at New Life Worship Center, music, gardening, shopping, and traveling. Carolyn worked in civil service as a bookkeeper and clerical assistant.
Known for her infectious laugh and love for life, Carolyn was the life of the party. Carolyn enjoyed gardening and tending to her various plants. She shared her love of traveling with her family in which they frequently took road trips across the country. Carolyn was a lifelong learner and graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2009 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science.
Carolyn departed this life and entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home in Gulfport, MS at the age of 62 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband George Sullivan, Sr., mother Ida Mae Harris, and father Albert Turnage.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children Evelyn Sullivan and Avery Sullivan, her siblings Glen Turnage(Sheila), Clara Versell, and Eugene Turnage(Genise) and her grandchildren Caleb Causey, Madison Dampeer and Alena Sullivan. Carolyn adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She leaves to cherish her legacy a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy will continue to live on with the happy memories, good laughs, and fun times we are left to cherish.
