Carroll L. GardnerZANESVILLE: Carroll L. Gardner of Zanesville died peacefully in his sleep Monday, March 18, 2013 with his wife Martha, Sue, and Alice by his side.He was born on July 2, 1939 in Cheshire, Ohio. He served in the
United States Marine Corps for eight years. He worked at Peabody Coal Company.He is survived by his wife Martha (Fisher) Gardner of the home; three sons Butch (Darlene) Gardner, Dale (Vanessa) Gardner both of Rose Farm, and Mike Penrod of Texas; four daughters Sue (Mark) Searls of Roseville, Annie (Dave) Knight of New Lexington, Tammy (Mike) Searls of Rose Farm, and Mary Smith of Lancaster; two step-daughters Jeannine (Chuck) Berry of Zanesville and Betty Freeman of the home; one brother Kenneth Wade Gardner of Zanesville; step-sister Donna Ross; 26 grandchildren and 38 greatgrandchildren; his beloved dogs Sadie and Skippy.He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Gardner; his parents Carl and Ada Yarger Gardner; one sister Ilene Holley; and two brothers Carl Gardner, Jr. and Paul Robert Gardner; two grandchildren, one greatgrandchild; and one step-daughter.Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Iliff Cemetery.
