HAYS, CARY FREDERICK, 74 Ocala - Cary Frederick Hays, 74, of Ocala, FL passed away in Orem, Utah on October 26, 2016 peacefully with his family by his side. Cary was born on July 21, 1942 in Miami, FL. At the age of 11 his passion for music and the Trumpet began. While attending Jackson HS in Miami, he was a member of the marching band. He marched in many parades such as the famous 'Orange Bowl. In 1960 he enrolled at Andrew's Jr. College in Cuthbert, GA. The following year, he transferred to Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL where he enrolled as music major. Cary was a member of the ROTC, the Florida Concert Band and the FSU Marching Chiefs. After college, Cary spent most of his adult life working in management for public and private utility companies. However, his main passion was music. After moving his family to Ocala in 1982, Cary joined several Concert Bands such as the Kingdom of the Sun, and started the Cary Hays Dixieland band. For more than 20 years, he enjoyed playing for local community events and private functions. Cary is survived by his four children, Denise Thomas of Ocala, FL, Scott Hays of Highland, UT, Brian Hays of St Johns, FL and Michael Hays of Burleson, TX. He is also survived by his son in law, Mark Thomas; daughters in law, RaCail Hays, Melissa Hays and Ashlie Hays; 12 grandchildren; his sister, Jeannine Cox of Ocala, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 'A celebration of life' for Cary will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1831 SE 18th Ave Ocala, FL 34471. There will be a public viewing at 10:30 am preceded by a funeral service at 11:30 am. At 1:00 pm Cary will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery 1515 NE 3rd St Ocala, FL 34470. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Cary's memory to either; The Kingdom of the Sun Concert band, check payable to, MTC (in memory of Cary Hays), c/o Les Muncaster. 6421 Lakewood Dr. Unit E.
