Catherine B. CareySalisbury-Catherine B. Carey, a longtime resident of Salisbury, passed away on August 16, 2017 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, Maryland at the age of 93. Mrs. Carey, a daughter of Anne O. Briddell and Charles W. Bloodsworth, was born on February 9, 1924 in Princess Anne, Maryland.Following her graduation from (now) Salisbury University in 1944, Mrs. Carey taught in Baltimore City Public Schools. In 1946, she married Samuel E. Tromley, and resided in Richmond, Virginia until the early 1950s, when the family returned to Salisbury. She taught in Wicomico County elementary schools until she retired in 1982. Mrs. Carey served as a Trustee of the Wicomico County Public Library, and was active in Asbury United Methodist Church.She is survived by her daughters, Gwen B. Tromley of Baltimore, and Anne T. Weinstein of Reisterstown, by her son-in-law Harvey A. Weinstein, by her granddaughter, Alyssa B. Weinstein and her partner Joseph Sears, and children Jeremy and Eden.A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church at 11 am on October 6, 2017. A reception at the Church will follow. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Carey's memory may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or to the Wicomico County Public Library.
