Dial, CatherineCatherine Dial of Fairfield, formerly of Stamford, CT. passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 7, 2016. Devoted wife of 48 happy years to the late Constantine "Gus" Dial. She was born on August 4, 1928 in Stamford, CT. She was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Arahovites Cocores. Catherine was employed by SNET as a supervisor in the early 50's. She retired after 17 years as a receptionist/switchboard operator for The Advocate/Greenwich Time Newspaper. Catherine was a member of AARP, an avid reader, music lover and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles. A graduate of Stamford High School, she served on various Year Book committees, sang in all the Girls Glee Clubs and school choirs throughout her years there. She was also a member of the renowned SHS A Capella Choir. Catherine was also a member of her hometown Church of the Annunciation Choir, where she also taught Sunday school for many years. She also enjoyed being a member of St. Nicholas Church choir. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Lupo and her husband Gene of Fairfield, son John and wife RoseMary of Trumbull. Three grandsons, Christopher Lupo and Kristina, David Lupo and his wife Jenna, Mark Lupo and his wife Ashley, six precious great-grandchildren, Gina, Danielle, Christopher Jr., and his twin sister Graciana, Isabella and Mackenzie Lupo. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Georges and Helen Carlucci, two brothers Peter and George Cocores.Calling hours will take place on Monday December 12, 2016 from 4 to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport with Trisagion services at 6pm in the funeral home. The Rite of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday in St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave with Reverend Fr. Romanos Malouf officiating followed by interment in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to or to her beloved church St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church.
