Catherine M. StumpAGE: 88 • ClaytonCatherine M. Stump, (Cass), age 88, of Clayton, Delaware, passed away on December 18, 2016.She was born on January 13, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late William and Mary Ann McCormick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William F. McCormick; and her sister, Margaret Bulskis.She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Howard B. Stump; six children, James W. Mullaney (Rita), Timothy P. Mullaney, Sr. (Renie), Kathleen Mullaney (Tom Witkowski), William C. Mullaney, Howard R. Stump and Kimberly Stump (Ken Hausman); 12 grandchildren, J. Michael Mullaney (Jennifer), Joseph Mullaney (Sanh), Lisa A. Mullaney, Lynn M. Burke (Matt), Shannon E. Coble (Chris), Timothy P. Mullaney, Jr. (Kristen), Brian Cote (Lis), Melissa Young, Scott Bundek (Cheryl), Mandy Bundek (Mark Heverin, Jr.), Jacob Hausman and Katie Hausman; and 23 great grandchildren.She began her working career as a messenger with the U.S. Maritime Commission War Shipping Administration, before working at a variety of jobs in the area. In 1969, the Stump family relocated to Smyrna, DE, where she both took care of the house, and did administrative work for the family business, A&H Plumbing & Heating. As her children started on their own journeys, she became interested in Morgan show horses, and opened and managed Heatherstone Morgans, out of Clayton. There she owned and bred some exceptional Morgans, and made friends that lasted until this day.A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 10:30 am to 12 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna, DE, where funeral services will begin at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, feel memorial contributions may be made in Catherine's name to Delaware Hospice. (
