Valine, CatherineCatherine (Picone) Valine a devoted wife, loving sister, and exceptional aunt; passed away peacefully on November 11, 2016 at the Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Valine. Kate was born on March 20, 1926 in Brookfield, CT to the late Louis and Mabel Picone and attended Brookfield Schools. She married Fred Valine in 1946; and they resided in New Fairfield during the early years of their marriage. They then proceeded to live in Florida and Georgia before returning to CT in 1997. While living down south, Kate worked in the cafeteria at Sanford Middle School and Thompson Elementary School. Most recently, Kate worked at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Germantown for several years. While living in New Fairfield, she was an active member of the New Fairfield Fire Department's Ladies' Auxiliary and other local activities. Regardless of where she lived, Kate enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. Kate is survived by her brother, Joseph Picone of Georgia; brother-in-law, Richard Raymond of Danbury; as well as many nieces and nephews who will deeply miss her. Aside from her husband, she is predeceased by her siblings Louis Picone, John Picone, Genia Gemza, Isabel Cutler, Margaret Pace, Marion Germanetti and Rita Raymond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic War Veterans, 2 Shalvoys Lane, Danbury, CT 06810. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Tuesday, November 15 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 46 Stone St. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 14 at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St. from 4:00- 7:00PM.To Light a Candle of Hope and Remembrance please visit cornellmemorial.com.
