Cecil Arlin WyettCecil A. Wyett passed away on September 22, 2017 in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on May 8, 1915 in San Jose, California to William Edward Wyett and Clara Harmon Wyett. Cecil grew up in southwestern Missouri living in the towns of Brookfield, Springfield and Marshfield, Mo. He is a 1933 graduate of Marshfield High School. Cecil attended Drury College and graduated from South Missouri State University in 1940 with an AB in Mathematics. In 1938 Cecil married Gwendolyn Fisher of Springfield, Missouri. The couple had two daughters Nancy Sue and Elaine Kay. Cecil and Gwen lived in Sedalia, Cape Girardeau and St. Louis during Cecil's 40-year career with AT&T, Southwestern Bell. Cecil and Gwen returned to their beloved hometown Springfield following Cecil's retirement in 1976. The couple enjoyed 27 splendid retirement years in Springfield as members of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where Cecil was an active church member as well as chairman of the building committee. Cecil was a golfing member of Twin Oaks Country Club and served as club president in 1988. He also was a member and volunteer in the Missouri Telephone Pioneer's Club. Cecil and Gwen traveled extensively both in the US and abroad. They enjoyed many vacations and holidays with their daughters and grandchildren in Colorado and Texas. Gwen's life ended in 2003. In 2004 Cecil married Ruth Alice Bates. They have spent 13 golden years together in Springfield as members of Campbell United Methodist Church as well as Twin Oaks Country Club. During a wonderful weekend in May, 2015 Cecil and Ruthie sparkled during the celebration of Cecil's 100th birthday with members from both their families gathering in Springfield for a multiday commemoration of a life well lived. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harmon Wyett, and his wife Gwendolyn of 65 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Ruthie, daughters Nancy (Michael) Cherington and Elaine (Michael) Stoltz, and Ruthie's daughters Suzanne Bates and Sharon Benton and their families. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
