Cecil Cheatham, 76Muncie - Cecil Cheatham, 76, passed away Saturday evening, March 18, 2017, at the Elm Croft Senior Living Center following an extended illness. He was born on October 10, 1940, in Cammack, Indiana, the son of Ivan and Lorene (Hoops) Cheatham.Mr. Cheatham was a 1958 graduate of Muncie Central High School, and later entered his military service with the United States Army, having served honorably with the Transportation to USAR Control Group as Private First Class. On March 11, 1967, Cecil married the love of his life, Rita (Harry) Cheatham in Muncie, and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2014. He became a trouble shooter in the machine repair department of Borg Warner having served 47 years prior to his retirement in 2004. Cecil was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, attended the First Church of the Nazarene, enjoyed working in the garden with his wife, listening to music by Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers and loved family times with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Parker- Evans, Muncie; one son, Brian Cheatham (wife-Melissa), Selma; five grandchildren, Cameron Parker, Chicago, Illinois , Lauren Coffey ,Ian Parker and Austin Parker, all of Muncie and Derrick Cheatham, Selma; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Alyssa and Aubrey Coffey; one brother, Wayne Cheatham (wife-Marilyn), Muncie.Besides his wife of fifty years, Rita, he is preceded in death by parents.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Mark Dill officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery Mausoleum north of Muncie. Military honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene 3101 N.
