CECILIA EMMELINE KIESELSeptember 17, 2017Cecilia Emmeline Wendler Kiesel, "Nana", 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 17th. Cecilia was born on June 18, 1924, in Babylon, NY, to Edwin & Laura Wendler. She was married to her beloved husband, Donald Francis Kiesel on April 20, 1947, and celebrated many happy years raising their five children. She enjoyed spending her summers at their beach house on Oak Island, Long Island, NY, with her family. Their days were filled with sailing, clamming, crabbing and time together. Cecilia and Donald, moved their family to Fort Myers in 1950 where they were pioneers in the commercial shrimping business. They were members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and were founding members of St. Cecilia's Catholic community where Cecilia enjoyed singing in the choir. Cecilia was an avid tennis player and member of the Fort Myers Garden Club. She had a love and talent for sewing, knitting and needlework. She created gifts to share with family and loved ones which have become treasured family heirlooms.Cecilia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald; sister E'dena L'Hommedieu and twin brother Edwin Wendler. She is survived by her five children, Donald (De), Lynn Newman (Ralph), Edward (Lorraine), Jeff (Esther), and Laurel Ireland (Joby); 15 grandchildren, Ray (Cheryl), Lauren Scherer (Wayne), Scott (Stephanie), Donald (Lauren), Brent (Brooke), Ed (Angie), Matthew, Brian (Katie), Nathan (Krystal), Emilee, Jeffrey, Lulu, Cecilia, Joseph, and Shannon; 10 great-grandchildren, Savannah, Austin, Destiny, Elly, Kiesel, Lyndon, Miller, Saylor, Mason,and Rhiley. Her Legacy-of-Love will live in the hearts of all her family members as well as the many countless lives she touched. We invite all who knew and loved our Mom to join us on Saturday, September 23rd at St. Cecilia's Catholic Community. Memorial Mass will be at 10 am with a Celebration of Life Reception at the parish hall immediately after. In lieu of flowers we ask donations be made to Hope Hospice, for the comfort, care and dignity they provided our Mom.
